While multiple definitions exist, a Customer Data Platform (CDP) is a commonly known software solution that collects and organizes customer data to be accessible in a single place. Specifically, this packaged software is designed to collect, integrate, manage and store customer data from disparate internal and external systems, sources and applications (e.g., a CRM, ESP, POS etc.). Once organized, data is used to create a unified view of the customer that can be used for insights, analytics, reporting and to activate or orchestrate relevant omnichannel experiences.
The benefit of deploying a CDP is that it helps improve personalized interactions with customers – at a 1:1 level.
