Talend and Informatica – Let’s Get Real

Dale Renner | September 27, 2016

research-analysisEarlier this year there was a big data benchmark showdown between Talend and Informatica that seemed to wind down after Talend proposed a challenge to “…use a certified configuration agreeable to the both of us, a mutually agreed benchmark, and allow both companies to give technical guidance to the company running the benchmark. And let the best product win.”

According to InformationWeek, Informatica said they would evaluate it after the challenge was issued, “…based on whether it would serve the business needs of customers, and not solely for the sake of an experiment.” We couldn’t agree more.

Play time is over and it’s time to get real.

In today’s business world, data is messy, complex, and vast. Our customers come to us because, like most organizations today, they have complex data problems that need solving. A single use case doesn’t solve a business’ data problem. So let’s take the benchmark to the real world. We challenge Talend and Informatica to a Hadoop data integration benchmark that more closely mirrors the complex challenges most businesses face.

Let’s go head-to-head testing complicated use cases with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data; with several transformations; testing for data quality, address standardization, and name matching. And let’s do it without the data ever leaving Hadoop.

Let’s agree to a certified configuration, a mutually agreed benchmark for which all companies will provide technical guidance. Let’s give the market what they’re asking for – an answer to the performance question.

In the meantime, we wanted to give you a taste of our supreme performance and commissioned the same research firm who conducted last year’s Talend/Informatica benchmark to test our Data Management product against the same overall workloads from the original benchmark. We even went one step ahead and tested for address standardization and name matching – both very real data challenges facing businesses today.

We’re confident that our code-free approach to data management in Hadoop will outperform our competitors where it counts – in performance, time to production, ease of use, and overall value.

We’ve architected RedPoint Data Management to be the best where scale, performance, and depth and breadth of functionality matter. We’re here. And we’ll be waiting.
